ActorShahid Kapoor has earned the wrath of his father, actor-filmmaker Pankaj Kapur after being caught making a public appearance inspite of being told not to.
The young star is playing the lead in his dad’s directorial debut Mausamand that requires him to sport a certain look that papa Pankaj is trying hard to keep under wraps.
Shahid, however, couldn’t resist the temptation of sneaking out for a dekko of a new film, specially since it was with ‘good friend’ Priyanka Chopra. The two were snapped heading for a show in the suburbs together.
Though the cap Shahid was sporting might have hidden his hair ‘look’, it could hardly save him from getting into trouble at home. According to a source, Pankaj has now insisted that Shahid not step out of the house for the next one month.
“Of course, Shahid isn’t too happy with not being able to move around town with his friends. But he’s a thorough professional too and understands his dad’s point of view completely,” said the source.
So, it’s a catch-22 situation for Shahid who now has to choose between the head and the heart. If he does listen to his dad, he might earn the ire of his lady friend, and if he steps out with his friend, dad Pankaj will see red. In either case, it’ll be interesting for the rest to wait and watch who wins in this case… the head or the heart!
Phew. Believe it or pass out, that's the figure that producer Sajid Nadiadwala is koolly demanding from Eros International if they wish to acquire his kick. Sorry, 'Kick'.
The Salman Sonakshi starrer, slated for mid year or Eid release next year, has already turned newsy, courtesy the whopping figure.
Eros frontlined both 'Veer' and 'Dabangg', and although the former didn't stand emerge a valiant winner at the cine stakes, the latter has amply compensated for it by turning out to be a bigger grosser than '3 Idiots'.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, steering clear of all controversy, states cautiously in a media quote, "I haven't spoken to Eros International as yet. We have yet to lock the script and work on our budget."
An insider close to Nadiadwala, however, squealed that the producer did demand Rs. 75 crore for 'Kick'.
Says the close source, "It's too early to quote a price of Rs. 75 crore for 'Kick.' One cannot judge what Salman Khan's market position will be next year. However, Salman has been very close to Eros and one is still considering the amount."
"I was on for the role. I had been finalised and signed. I was not even told why my services were not needed. But I'd rather not talk about this. I'd rather focus on talking about Priyan's film," said Mohanlal, 50, who was to play one of Priyanka Chopra's seven husbands in the film.
Right now he is excited about Priyadarshan's thriller, which will be shot on a speeding train in London. This is Mohanalal and Priyan's 40th film together.
"I haven't asked Priyan what my role is. He told me he needed me for a cameo. And I agreed," said the actor whose last Hindi movie was the disastrous Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag.
In Priyadarshan's film, Mohanlal plays a Malayali cop in Britain. In Varma's Company he had played a south Indian police commissioner. In both cases, the characters were altered for Mohanlal's sake. But the actor says language is not a barrier anymore.
"The language is not really important. I am shooting a terrorist drama Khandahar right now and it's hard to say what the language of the film is. The characters speak in Malayalam, Hindi and English. I think cinema now transcends all linguistic barriers."
Priyadarshan, who is teaming with his favourite actor after eight years, said: "I've done 39 films with Mohanlal so far. For the last eight years we haven't worked together. I was busy doing remakes of Mohanlal films with Akshay Kumar. I thought it was high time that I did something again with the original. Mohanlal didn't even ask me what his role in the film was. That's the level of trust we have."

Has Vivek Oberoi been signed for Season 3 of 'Swayamvar', the reality show at a TV channel that had earlier roped in Rakhi Sawant and Rahul Mahajan for Season 1 and Season 2 respectively?
That's the buzz going around the B-town for the week gone by. While sources have claimed that Vivek is a hot contender for the show, considering his single status and popularity amongst women, the fact is something entirely different. The actor, who has seen a new lease to his professional career post Prince, is in no mood to tie the knot in near future, least of all on a reality show.
"This is as ridiculous as it gets", says a source close to Vivek, "There is no truth to the entire story and is imaginative as it gets. Earlier there were names like Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni spoken around. Then there were some other lesser names also that came in. Now all of a sudden Vivek's name has cropped up. It isn't even funny to be laughed away."
A 'news' like this comes at the time when Vivek is looking forward to his upcoming assignment like Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra, Part I of which is aiming for a September release. After that, there is also a Mani Ratnam film which is pretty much on the anvil.
No wonder, conspiracy theories are being discussed in hush-hush tone. Last 12 months had seen an upswing in Vivek's career with first Kurbaan and then Prince lighting up the scene for him. Just when the actor had got through the 'let bygones be bygones' phase and moved on to concentrate entirely on his work and refused to get into any personal conversations, a news piece like 'Swayamvar' stands out like a sore thumb.
While Vivek refused to comment on the entire 'issue', one wonders whether his silence has yet again made him a soft target for media as well as industry alike? What can be said for sure though is that there is lot more he can be expected to talk about once his film comes closer to release. After all Ramu's gritty reel world of Rakta Charitra inspired from real life can be expected to make for a far better outing than 'Swayamvar' where the difference between real and reel world could be considerably blurred!
I Hate Luv Storys is a story of a boy who doesn’t believe in love and a girl who only believes in love. No matter how simple this sounds, the world that this love story is set in is something that’s been part of me and something I’ve been part of...
It’s taken us just under a year to complete this film. The reason I say ‘us’ is because no matter how much I would like to believe that this film has been made by me alone… its far from the truth.
I Hate Luv Storys is the combined effort of a lot of people… it’s a very young crew that came together and worked selflessly and positively to achieve one common goal.
As a first time filmmaker I couldn’t have asked for a better producer than Karan and a better crew… Bose and Amrita set the look for me, Vishal & Shekhar gave me splendid music, Apoorva, Marijke, Akiv Ali, Bosco, Niranjan, Namrata, Ayesha, Gopika, Shanoo, Shivani , Siddharth, Parth, my super AD team - Pierre, Rohit, Shamin, Evan, Ayush and Adeeb… and the rest of the crew… and anyone else who I might have missed…..all of who worked day and night to make my dream come true.
A special mention to Imran and Sonam for making Jay and Simran breathe (cos there could never be a cooler Jay or sweeter Simran) and also the rest of my supporting cast for believing in me, trusting me and giving all the characters life…
And apart from my filmy family, Mom & Dad, Riddhi, the rest of my family (before am kicked at home), my friends… and most of all Manish for being there at every step.
Thank you guys… this film wouldn’t have been so special without any of you.
It’s been a year of absolute fun, joy, party and excitement and on the brink of this films release I can only hope that this infectious energy and vibe can reach you guys as well.
Sorry for boring you with this long note, thanks a ton.
The happy twosome will soon have another addition which is more than welcome. Sanjay Dutt and Maanyata Dutt are soon going to be proud parents to a baby which is eagerly awaited by the couple.
Maanyata is three months pregnant and Sanju baba is over the moon as he pampers his wife. Earlier Maanyata would accompany Sanju to all his outdoor shoots and even to religious shrines but now on doctor's advice, wifey Dutt is taking it easy and is being as cautious as possible. Sanjay Dutt already has a daughter, Trishala, from his earlier marriage. She is currently studying criminal law in the US.
Bollywood Hungama congratulates the couple and wishes them all the happiness.
If the buzz in the industry trade circle is any indication, then another star kid is gearing up for a launch in the movies. Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter Jhanavi is the next pedigree to follow in her parents’ footsteps. The film is an expensive socio-fantasy extravaganza in Telugu opposite Chiranjeevi’s son, Ramcharan Teja.
According to our source, “Producer Ashwini Dutt is planning a sequel to his 1991 Chiranjeevi-Sridevi film, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, which was later dubbed in Hindi as Aadmi Aur Apsara. The idea is to recreate the Chiranjeevi-Sridevi magic and that’s why Jhanavi comes into the picture opposite Ramcharan Teja.”
Former Bollywood actress Sridevi made her debut on the ramp for Mumbai designers and bridalwear specialists Prriya and Chintan at the Lakme Fashion Week. The designers unveiled their Autumn/Winter 2008 pret line inspired by the Russian-born French artist and designer Erte, famous for his elegant designs and drapes in the 1920s.
It is clear that the film has nothing to do with any political family or any individual politician.
Of course, rumours around this for an entire year gone by did result in an immense buzz and hype for the Prakash Jha's film.
A battle between two families, quest for power between two warring parties, mind games, personal life being put on stake to gain professional deals - all of this has been seen in quite a few films before Raajneeti.
In fact it isn't difficult to remember films like Godfather or Sarkar that did have similar elements but Raajneeti is much murkier, darker and thrilling than one would imagine.
Jha, who contested the Lok Sabha elections from Bettiah constituency on Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) ticket, brings his own knowledge of the inside affairs of politics and makes it the basis for Raajneeti.
It is one of those rare films where characters change colour with every passing moment.
Be it Arjun Rampal as an educated politician who doesn't mind beating the pulp out of an enemy, Ranbir Kapoor who takes not more than a few days to leave his academic world to become a scheming politician, Ajay Devgn who is pretty much a closet murderer or Manoj Bajpai -- just about everyone has blood on his hand sooner or later.
in a small role who is the only white character in the film. Does she live up the hype? Not really. In fact her character is not even central to the film, as indicated in the promos.
She does well though in the scenes that come her way but the film belongs to the trio of Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor and Manoj Bajpai.
These are the three men who make Rajneeti an engaging affair while keeping it entertaining. For Arjun Rampal, it is a huge rise after the success of films like Om Shanti Om, Rock On, The Last Lear, Housefull and now Rajneeti - the man has grown and how.
Known for his 'firang' appeal, Arjun gets into the heartland of India and shows that he has it in him to please audience in interiors as well. Watch out for his outburst with the cops soon after his father is shot. Volatile.
As for Ranbir Kapoor, with Raajneeti, he has shown how he is an actor waiting to be seen in roles as complex and diverse as Rajneeti.
In the film he changes colours from being vulnerable to intelligently ruthless.
Manoj Bajpai is one actor who had to move ahead of the Satya fame sooner or later. He has managed to surpass his earlier efforts and with Rajneeti, he has shown once again that he is an actor who cannot be asked to lie low for a longer duration.
Nana Patekar is another interesting character in the film and his presence in Rajneeti is totally justified. As a conniving man who has seen the world and knows what is wrong and right in politics, he is superb and gets some of the best scenes for himself in the film.
As for Ajay Devgn, he is good but doesn't get much scope to perform. To his credit though, he does well whenever he is required to display histrionics and one can see the Ajay of yore, especially in his last scene.
It takes time to grasp the world of Rajneeti. For the
first 30 minutes, you have to apply yourself constantly to understand which character belongs to which warring side and what exactly is the course of action that the political parties are taking.
But there are scenes that halt the speed of this tightly paced thriller
. The love story between Ranbir-Katrina and Ranbir-Sarah should have been shorter.
Also, the scene between Ajay and his mother towards the pre-climax leads to unintentional laughter. Frankly, it doesn't work. Moreover, even though an item song
is seen for only a minute, it is totally forced and should have been chopped off.
They made a dream pair in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ and have continued the magic going in the upcoming film ‘Raajneeti’. Yes, we are talking about the dream pair of Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, undoubtedly the most-sought after heroine and hero in Bollywood at present. The two stars are said to be sharing an amazing on-screen and off-screen chemistry.
Ranbir, who has just returned from U.S. after shooting non-stop for over two-and-half months for the film ‘Anjaana Anjani’ opposite Priyanka Chopra, is said to be very upset at the long break he had to endure away from Katrina. Katrina is said to have made a ‘secret’ trip to U.S. to just meet him and as the actress was discreet and made sure that she stayed away from the sets where the shooting was going on, and no-one spotted her there along with Ranbir.
When Katrina met film's leading lady Priyanka Chopra, she reportedly panicked and the first thing that struck her was that the news could reach home. It is also said that as Kat wasn’t on talking terms with Priyanka, he impressed on Ranbir to keep Priyanka silent about having seen her (Kat) there.
After his return, Ranbir Kapoor has been dropping in quite often at Kaif's home. The pair has now signed their third film together, it is rumoured. While Katrina’s side has staunchly refuted that she visited U.S. last month, Ranbir remained unavailable for comment.
New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) After being dogged by a slew of controversies, Prakash Jha's upcoming political drama 'Raajneeti' has now landed in censorship trouble. The censor board is still undecided whether to give it a U or U/A certificate.
Jha has also quashed rumours that his movie title was lifted.
'There is a (censor) board category dispute going on whether a U or a U/A certificate is to be given to the film. There is a difference of opinion there for the voting of the category of the film,' Jha told reporters here Thursday.
'It is a difficult film and it took time to make it, so it will take some time for them (censor board) too,' he added.
The 58-year-old slammed the claim by filmmaker Kamaal R. Khan that his movie title has been lifted. Khan has claimed that the title was registered under his name for he last five years.
'There is no problem with the title. We have it since the last nine years. We'll soon come out of it and everyone will see... it is just that someone is trying to cash in on our name,' he said.
Jha was here Thursday evening at the PVR Cinemas, Select Citywalk, Saket, to promote the movie. Also present with him were the cast of the film Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Arjun Rampal.
'Raajneeti' also stars Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgn and Manoj Bajpai.
